God who creates also cares

God who creates also cares

In today’s, we continue to meditate on the book of Genesis and the creation account. On the fourth day, God created living sea creatures both great and small according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. He then blessed them ” Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas and let birds multiply on earth”. This is marvelous in his eyes.

Nature today is a testimony of this creative work of God. Bar-tailed godwits bird has set a record to fly 8435 miles (about 13574.82 km) from Alaska to the Australian state of Tasmania without stopping for food or rest, breaking the record for the longest non-stop migration by a bird. Can you imagine yourself travelling without water, food, or sleeping for two and a half trips between London and New York? That is incredible for a bird and turns out godwits are not the only long-haul travelers in the bird world. Its Creator has given him an amazing ability to alter their bodies and metabolism by shrinking the size of their internal organs, quickly gaining weight, burning through fat reserves, barely sleeping, and many other superpower-like qualities. They make room for energy-rich fats by absorbing 25% of the tissue that forms their digestive tract, liver, and kidneys. They can even make their heart and chest muscles bigger mid-flight to supply more energy and oxygen to these areas.

The psalmist in Psalm 104:24-28 praises God’s works and wisdom and points out something significant that God gives them their food in due season when they look to Him. When God cares so much in detail for a bird, would he not care for the one for whom he suffered and died? Our God is not just the creator, but he is also a great caretaker. When trouble comes, He does not leave us all by ourselves. We may feel like he is not with us, but he promises to be with us (Psalms 23:4). Matthew 6:25-33 and Matthew 10:29-31 remind and exhort us that He values us more than birds. Our God who creates us also cares for us. He knows our needs and he is always there to support us when we look upon him (Psalms 121:1-2), We only must stop relying on our own strengths and fix our eyes on Jesus, who is the author and finisher of our faith and seek his kingdom and righteousness first and these things will be added to us (Matthew 6:33)

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to acknowledge that you care for our needs and put my trust in you and your word alone.
